Monitoring and observability

Observability is the ability to see what a system is doing from its metrics, logs and traces, and to be told when it is going wrong before users are. Hexploits implements monitoring with alerting that routes to an engineer, dashboards for the business, and the audit trail that compliance asks for.

A named engineer replies within one working day. A written scope and an indicative price within two.

  • Businesses that find out about outages from customers.
  • IT directors who want an SLA they can measure.
  • Compliance functions that need logs retained and searchable.

Deliverables, not slogans. Each one appears in the statement of work.

  • Metrics, logs and traces collected from every environment with retention set by policy.
  • Alerts with thresholds tuned to avoid noise, routed to on-call.
  • Dashboards for engineers and a plain-language status view for the business.
  • Uptime and response-time reporting against the SLA.
  • A status page for managed clients.

Our engineers work across the major languages, frameworks and cloud platforms. We build on the stack you already run, with technology choices explained in writing before work begins.

The same four stages as every Hexploits engagement, applied to this capability.

  1. Stage 1

    Instrument

Applications and infrastructure emit structured logs, metrics and traces with correlation IDs.

  2. Stage 2

    Alert

Alerts are defined from real incidents and tuned until every page means something.

  3. Stage 3

    Report

Monthly uptime, incidents and response times in the service report.

  4. Stage 4

    Improve

Incidents feed back into alerts, runbooks and the roadmap.

Every engagement agrees its measures and the measurement period in writing before work starts.

  • Time to detect and time to resolve incidents.
  • Incidents discovered by monitoring versus reported by users.
  • Uptime against the SLA, reported monthly.

  • Director, Gradvisor

Fantastic company and our development partner for Gradvisor, a social mobility careers platform with national ambitions. Extremely responsive and mission-oriented. Cameron owns any shortfalls humbly - rare for IT providers. Thinks like a client too.

  • Director, JobVantage

Working with Hexploits has genuinely been a pleasure, and I see them as my scaling partner for the foreseeable future as JobVantage grows. If you’re looking for a development team who combine strong AI/engineering capability with honesty, flexibility and a real interest in your business, I’d strongly recommend them.

Which tools do you use?
Prometheus, Grafana and OpenTelemetry by default, Datadog where a client already has it, and cloud-native services where they fit. The choice is documented.
Will we be flooded with alerts?
Alerts are tuned from real incidents and reviewed monthly. An alert nobody acts on is removed.
Can logs be used as evidence?
With retention, integrity and access controls set appropriately, yes. For regulated evidence we implement tamper-evident logging as we did for swarmd.ai.
